Action Days 2019

Mark Your Calendar for March 26-27, 2019

You’re invited to join the Alliance for Childhood Cancer for the 8th Annual Childhood Cancer Action Days. This two-day event in Washington brings our community together to advocate for important childhood cancer issues currently before Congress.

Your Voice Matters

A strong showing of advocates at Action Days 2019 is more crucial than ever.  We will be at a critical point in the legislative process on several key issues for children with cancer. Sharing your story in Washington this spring will ensure the voice of children with cancer is heard loud and clear!

Faces of Childhood Cancer Project

Calling all childhood cancer families! As members of the childhood cancer community, we want our legislators to recognize that childhood cancer goes beyond statistics by showing them the faces of our children. Our children are more than just the cancer they experience. We have created the Faces of Childhood Cancer Project to share their stories with legislators at upcoming advocacy meetings on Capitol Hill. It’s a fun and meaningful activity that you can do from home!

These documents are only used for this purpose.

This year we have two ways in which you can submit-

1. We have created a form you can fill out and upload photos- we will format for you and create the one page document we need to submit to legislators.

2. Create your own (this option is available only to those who will attend Action Days 2019 in-person): Click here to see a sample Faces of Childhood Cancer project. Click here for a blank template.

Any questions, please contact alliance@asco.org.

What to Know Before You Go

It’s time to think about how to get your message across effectively to Capitol Hill. In this webinar, we'll go over the details on how meetings are being scheduled as well as a few specific "homework" assignments that will help you hone your message, understand your audience, use social media effectively and get a sense of what is happening on Capitol Hill (it's entertaining, we promise). Participants will come away from the session with a practical preparation plan.  Whether you've attended the Action Days in the past or not, this is the session for you.
